The Challenge

Lake Lothing Bridge in Lowestoft required a fire detection and alarm solution across two physically separate structures — the main control tower and the Abutment building. A standard standalone system could not provide the integrated, site-wide detection and alarm management required for this critical infrastructure project.

Our Solution

Norfolk Fire Group designed, supplied, installed and commissioned a networked addressable fire detection and alarm system across both structures. A fibre network infrastructure was installed to link the control tower and the Abutment building, creating a single integrated detection network. This allowed both systems to communicate in real time, providing centralised alarm management and full device-level monitoring across the entire bridge installation.

The Outcome

Both structures are now protected by a fully integrated, networked addressable fire detection and alarm system. The fibre network ensures seamless communication between the control tower and the Abutment building, providing unified alarm management and event logging across the site. Full commissioning documentation and certification issued on completion.

The Challenge

A major new industrial hub development in Norfolk required a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary fire safety and security solution across all units from the ground up. The client needed a single, specialist contractor to take full responsibility for design, supply, installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of all fire safety and security systems — ensuring every unit was individually compliant, remotely monitored, and protected from day one of occupation.

Our Solution

Norfolk Fire Group were appointed as the principal fire safety and security contractor for the entire site. We carried out the full system design, supply, installation and commissioning of the following across all units: a fully addressable BS 5839-1:2025 Category L2 fire alarm system using Advanced Go+ addressable panels with Apollo XP95 protocol — providing precise device-level detection and alarm management; a Texecom Grade 3 intruder alarm system for each unit, providing commercial-grade perimeter and internal intrusion protection; remote monitoring for both fire and intruder systems on each unit, ensuring 24/7 professional response capability; CCTV coverage throughout the site, providing comprehensive visual surveillance of all areas; and automated gate systems for controlled site access. All systems were designed, installed and commissioned in accordance with the relevant British Standards.

The Outcome

The entire industrial hub is now protected by fully addressable, remotely monitored fire detection and a Grade 3 intruder alarm system across every unit. CCTV and gate automation provide site-wide security from day one. Norfolk Fire Group will carry out all ongoing maintenance and servicing thereafter, providing the site management with a single point of contact for all fire safety and security compliance. The Challenge

A hall in Fakenham required a modern fire alarm upgrade that would provide EN54-compliant protection without the disruption of traditional cable installation. The end users also required the ability to monitor and control the fire alarm system remotely — something conventional systems cannot offer.

Our Solution

Norfolk Fire Group designed and installed a fully wireless Ajax fire alarm system throughout the hall. The Ajax system is EN54-certified, providing the same level of reliability and compliance as a wired addressable installation — but with no cable runs required. The system was integrated with the Ajax app, giving the building's management team the ability to monitor system status, receive real-time alerts, arm and disarm zones, and review event logs directly from their smartphones. A fire alarm zone plan was produced and installed alongside the control panel.

The Outcome

The hall is now protected by a modern, fully EN54-compliant wireless fire alarm system. The end users have full visibility and control of the system via the Ajax app, with instant push notifications for any alarm or fault events. The installation was completed with minimal disruption and no damage to the building fabric. Full commissioning documentation and certification issued on completion.

Wireless Fire Alarm & Fire Door Upgrade — St Anne's House, King's Lynn

The Challenge

St Anne's House is a Grade II listed building in King's Lynn, presenting significant challenges for fire detection installation. Traditional cabling and surface-mounted conduit would have caused unacceptable damage to historic fabric and interior finishes — a common obstacle when upgrading fire safety in heritage properties.

Our Solution

Norfolk Fire Group specified and installed a FireCell EMS wireless addressable fire alarm system throughout the building. The wireless technology eliminated the need for invasive cable runs, preserving the listed character of the building entirely. Alongside the fire alarm installation, sympathetic upgrades were carried out to the internal fire doors — fitting intumescent strips, smoke seals, and self-closing devices to bring each door up to current fire resistance standards without compromising the building's historic appearance.

The Outcome

St Anne's House is now fully protected with a modern, compliant wireless addressable fire detection system. The fire doors have been upgraded to provide the required fire resistance, significantly improving compartmentation and life safety throughout the building. The works were completed with no damage to the listed fabric and full certification was issued on completion.

The Challenge

A four-storey Norwich city centre office building required a full replacement of its obsolete conventional fire alarm system. The existing system had multiple end-of-life panels and repeated false alarm issues causing business disruption.

Our Solution

We designed and installed a fully addressable fire alarm system using Advanced Electronics panels and Hochiki detection devices. The system was designed to BS 5839-1:2025 Category L2, with addressable call points and optical/heat multi-sensor detectors throughout. Cause-and-effect programming was configured to minimise false alarms while maintaining full compliance.

The Challenge

The Challenge

Our Solution

Our IFSM qualified assessor carried out a full PAS 79-1:2020 commercial fire risk assessment covering all areas of the hotel — bedrooms, kitchen, bar, reception, back-of-house storage, and external areas. The assessment identified 12 significant findings, prioritised into immediate, short-term, and longer-term actions.

The Outcome

Full written fire risk assessment report issued within 5 working days. All immediate actions were remediated within 2 weeks with our support. The hotel passed a subsequent Fire Authority inspection with no enforcement action taken.

Fire Door Survey & Remediation — Norfolk Care Home

The Challenge

A mid-Norfolk care home required a full fire door survey following a Fire Authority inspection that identified concerns about fire door maintenance. The building had 57 fire doors of various ages and specifications.

Our Solution

Our UKFDT Approved Inspector carried out a comprehensive fire door survey of all 57 fire doors, producing a photographic inspection report for each door covering gap measurements, intumescent seal condition, self-closer function, glazing, signage, and overall compliance rating. 14 doors required immediate remediation, 9 required scheduled replacement.

The Outcome

Full photographic inspection report delivered within 5 working days. Remediation work completed within 3 weeks. A follow-up re-inspection confirmed all doors now compliant. The care home was able to demonstrate compliance to the Fire Authority at their follow-up visit.

The Challenge

A newly opened Norwich restaurant had been identified during their fire risk assessment as having inadequate emergency lighting along escape routes and at the rear exit. The existing fittings were non-maintained and not providing sufficient illumination across the full width of escape routes as required by BS EN 1838:2024.

Our Solution

We designed a risk-based emergency lighting scheme to BS 5266-1:2025, mapping all escape routes and identifying the required lux levels and fitting positions. We installed maintained LED emergency bulkheads and illuminated exit signs, connected to the mains supply with individual 3-hour battery backup. A test key switch was installed for staff monthly flick tests.

The Outcome

Full BS 5266-1:2025 installation certificate issued. The restaurant passed their follow-up fire risk assessment without any emergency lighting findings. Monthly test log set up for staff. Annual full-duration test booked.
